Following the success of the last two graduate cohorts — where every participant was permanently employed — SARS continues investing in young South Africans through this future-skills programme.

About the Graduate Programme

The Deviare–SARS Graduate Programme is a full-time, 18-month, immersive learning and work-integrated experience developed in partnership with Microsoft. It is designed for young, driven graduates who want to enter the tech industry with job-ready skills.

This is not a typical internship — it is a structured career-launching ecosystem that includes:

  • Microsoft-aligned certification training
  • Practical technical projects
  • Hands-on mentorship
  • Professional development workshops
  • Career readiness support
  • Real working experience with national impact

Successful applicants will be placed into one of six high-demand learning tracks, depending on their assessment results.

Learning Tracks

Graduates will specialise in one of the following areas:

  1. Data Science

Analyse data, build models, and develop predictive insights.

  1. Full Stack Development

Develop both front-end and back-end applications for modern digital systems.

  1. Artificial Intelligence Engineering

Create intelligent systems and machine learning solutions.

  1. Microsoft Cloud Solutions Architecture

Design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure.

  1. Microsoft Power Platform

Build low-code/no-code business applications and automation solutions.

  1. Cyber Security

Protect digital infrastructure by identifying and mitigating cyber risks.

 

 

Programme Requirements

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Between 22 and 28 years
  • Employment Status: Must be unemployed and not studying
  • Location: Must live in Gauteng or be willing to relocate at your own cost
  • Availability: Must not be in any current internship, learnership, or graduate programme
  • Qualifications: Must hold an NQF Level 6 or 7 in any of these fields:
    • BSc Mathematics
    • BCom Finance / Information Systems
    • Computer Science
    • ICT or related fields

Programme Duration

  • Total Duration: 18 Months (2025–2027)

This includes training, mentorship, workplace readiness, and hands-on projects.

The Application Process (5 Simple Steps)

Step 1: Sign Up

Create your online profile, complete the aptitude and behavioural assessments, and upload all required documents.

Step 2: Shortlisting

Deviare reviews applications to identify candidates who meet the entry requirements and who performed well in the assessments.

Step 3: Interviews

Shortlisted candidates attend interviews to determine overall programme suitability.

Step 4: Feedback & Offer

Successful interview candidates receive feedback and a conditional offer.

Step 5: Contracting & Onboarding

Once the offer is accepted and background checks are completed, candidates are officially onboarded into the programme.

All applicants will go through:

  • Aptitude Assessments
  • Behavioural Assessments
  • Qualification Verification
  • ID Verification
  • ITC/Credit Check
  • Criminal Record Check

Admission is dependent on the successful completion of all checks.

Yes, graduates typically receive a stipend, though the exact amount is provided during the contracting stage.

  1. Do I need to relocate?

Yes, if you are not based in Gauteng. Relocation is at your own cost.

  1. Will I get a job at SARS after the programme?

While not guaranteed, both previous cohorts achieved 100% permanent placement at SARS — showing strong absorption potential.

  1. Do I need IT experience to apply?

No, but you must have an NQF 6–7 qualification in a relevant field (Maths, Finance, IT, CS, etc.)

  1. Can I apply if I am older than 28?

Unfortunately, no — the programme strictly accepts applicants aged 22–28.
