In an effort to tackle youth unemployment and equip young South Africans with practical, in-demand skills, Deepeg Training Solutions has launched an exciting Bricklaying Learnership Programme specifically for youth in Soweto. This initiative is not just about laying bricks — it’s about laying the foundation for meaningful careers in the construction industry.
What is the Bricklaying Learnership About?
The Bricklaying Learnership Programme is a structured skills development opportunity that combines classroom-based theoretical learning with on-site practical experience. The programme is accredited and aligned with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), ensuring participants receive industry-relevant skills recognized nationwide.
Through this programme, participants will gain hands-on experience in:
- Basic and advanced bricklaying techniques
- Reading building plans and site safety
- Mixing materials and constructing structures
- Adherence to health and safety regulations
- Teamwork and time management in a construction environment
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a nationally recognized qualification and may be eligible for employment opportunities or further training in construction and building fields.
Who Can Apply?
The Deepeg Bricklaying Learnership is targeted at unemployed youth from Soweto who are passionate about construction and eager to learn a trade skill that can lead to long-term employment. To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be between the ages of 18–35
- Reside in or around Soweto Diepkloof
- Have Grade 10 or higher (Grade 12 will be advantageous)
- Be currently unemployed
- Be physically fit and willing to work in a hands-on, labor-intensive environment
- Be committed to completing the full duration of the programme
Priority will be given to youth who demonstrate enthusiasm and a strong commitment to self-improvement and community development.
