AGRI-SERVICES INTERN
 
We have an exciting career opportunity for a Graduate within our Agri-Services business unit in the Grabouw area.  We are looking for an eager, passionate and ambitious individual with a willingness to learn and grow within the industry.

The main purpose of the role will be to collect, manage, and analyse data related to pest management from all growers, responding to grower queries and driving and maintaining monitoring activities.

Responsibilities:

• Visit all growers to ensure that monitoring is being done according to best practice protocol.
• Collect, format, and file all monitoring data on a biweekly basis.
• Maintain orchard specific data for analysis as part of the larger project scope.
• Ensure effective market allocation of orchards based on monitoring data.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders on pest related trials (trial layout, data collecting and analysis, etc.).
• Writing progress reports on the phytosanitary pest project.
• During off-season, contribute to ad-hoc projects and trials

Requirements:

• B. Agri – Entomology, Horticulture or related qualification
• 1 Years relevant experience within similar research environment
• Basic knowledge of phytosanitary pests in the South African pome fruit industry
• Understanding of research methodology
• Strong report writing skills
• Intermediate ability and working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
• Valid driver’s license, travel between farming sites required
