Job purpose

To perform horticultural development and maintenance of natural resources and facilities and to manage personnel and equipment optimally to improve the quality of the environment

Grade 12

A relevant qualification in horticulture will be an added advantage

At least six months’ relevant experience in a horticultural environment

A valid Code C1/EC1 driving licence with a valid professional driving permit

Physical fitness and health

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Willingness and ability to work shifts

Personal attributes and/or competencies

Self-driven and having initiative; good communication skills to manage personnel in a specific section; good driving behaviour; cognitive ability to work under pressure; ability to work in a group

Primary functions

Assist with horticultural development and maintenance of traffic islands, boulevards, cemeteries, sport facility and resorts

Effectively assist in the management of the team

Assist in the provision and maintenance of decorative parks and play parks

Carry out horticultural pest control

Assist the horticulturist with planning and upgrading parks

Assist the depot in adhering to policies and occupational health and safety regulations

Install irrigation in parks
