About the Role

We are currently seeking for a motivated and customer-focused General Retail Sales Assistant to join our team in Johannesburg. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, delivering excellent service, and contributing to a positive in-store experience.

As a General Retail Sales Assistant, you will play an important part in supporting daily store operations, assisting customers with their purchases, and helping the team achieve sales and service goals. You will represent the company professionally and help create a welcoming environment for every customer.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional assistance

• Understand customer needs and recommend suitable products or services

• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently

• Maintain product displays and ensure shelves are clean, organised, and fully stocked

• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or replenishment needs

• Handle customer questions, concerns, and basic complaints in a calm and helpful manner

• Keep the store clean, tidy, and aligned with company presentation standards

• Assist with promotional activities and in-store campaigns

• Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets

• Follow company policies, procedures, and loss prevention guidelines

• Support opening and closing duties as required

Requirements

• Previous experience in retail, sales, customer service, or a similar role is preferred

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Confident in engaging with customers and building positive relationships

• Basic numeracy skills and comfort handling transactions

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work well in a team and contribute to a shared goal

• Willingness to learn product knowledge and sales techniques

• Professional appearance and attitude

• Reliable, punctual, and adaptable

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform general retail duties

• Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays if required

Nice to Have

• Experience using point-of-sale systems
