What’s the Programme About?
The MFMIP is a two‑year structured internship that places graduates directly into the municipality’s Budget and Treasury Office, where they gain hands‑on exposure to municipal financial operations, in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and the Minimum Competency Regulations (Gazette 29967).

POSITIONS: MUNICIPAL FINANCE MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME (X3 Posts)
Salary: R90 000 – R100 000 per annum
Duration: 2 Years Contract
REQUIRMENTS:
- Grade 12 plus a Bachelors’ Degree or National Diploma with majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management and/or Auditing amongst others.
- Computer Literate
- Good Communication and Analytical Skills
- Must be between the ages of 18 to 35 years
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- The appointed intern will be given an opportunity to get professional training and work experience programme with the goal of providing high qualify training and practical exposure in all aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office with is governed by the Municipal Finance Management Act 56 of 2003 and the underlying reforms
- The programme ends with the qualification in Municipal Finance Management in line with the Municipal Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels, Gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007.
