AGSA New Venture Creation Learnership Programme for 2025

AGSA New Venture Creation Learnership Programme for 2025

South Africa’s drive toward inclusive economic participation has birthed several impactful youth empowerment initiatives. One such initiative is the New Venture Creation Learnership Programme spearheaded by the African Global Skills Academy (AGSA), in partnership with the Limpopo Office of the Premier and the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (MerSETA). This programme is a beacon of hope for aspiring entrepreneurs and job seekers in Limpopo and beyond, offering a golden opportunity to gain skills, start businesses, and contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s economy.

What is the AGSA New Venture Creation Learnership?

The New Venture Creation Learnership is a nationally accredited qualification aimed at developing the skills and competencies needed to start and successfully manage a small business. Managed by African Global Skills Academy (AGSA), a reputable training provider focused on enterprise development, the programme equips learners with entrepreneurial knowledge, business acumen, and the practical ability to build sustainable ventures.

This specific initiative is a result of a dynamic partnership between AGSA, the Limpopo Office of the Premier, and MerSETA, forming a triple-helix collaboration between government, training providers, and SETAs. The primary aim is to address unemployment by cultivating a new generation of business-minded individuals who are empowered to create jobs rather than merely seeking them.

  • Qualification: National Certificate: New Venture Creation (NQF Level 2)
  • Duration: 12 Months

The learnership is designed to guide participants from the idea stage of business development through to practical execution. Each learner is supported through coaching, structured learning, and enterprise simulation environments that mirror real market conditions.

STRATEGIC PARTNERS: GOVERNMENT AND MERSETA

The Limpopo Office of the Premier plays a crucial role in aligning the learnership with provincial development goals. Their involvement ensures that the programme supports Limpopo’s economic development strategy, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where youth unemployment is high.

On the other hand, MerSETA brings to the table funding and accreditation credibility. As one of South Africa’s 21 SETAs, MerSETA is responsible for ensuring that skills development efforts in manufacturing and engineering are industry-relevant, learner-centered, and sustainable. Through their support, the New Venture Creation Learnership receives both financial and institutional backing necessary for large-scale impact.
