What Does the Pyrotec Bursary Cover?

This is a tuition-focused academic bursary, meaning the primary goal is to ensure students can complete their studies without financial barriers.

Tuition & Registration Fees (100% Covered)

  • 100% of prescribed university tuition fees
  • Registration fees included
  • Fees are paid directly to the university

Note: Any outstanding fees from previous years are not covered.

Accommodation Support

  • Pyrotec will pay an amount equal to the average rate of a single room in a university hostel
  • The accommodation rate is:
    • Determined by Pyrotec
    • Not guaranteed
  • If staying in university-administered accommodation, payment is made directly to the institution
  • If staying in private accommodation, payment is made to the landlord only if:
    • A valid lease agreement or invoice is submitted

Textbook Allowance

  • Up to R5,000 per annum
  • Paid directly to the student
  • Covers prescribed academic textbooks only

Transport Allowance (Limited & Conditional)

  • Transport allowance is:
    • Reviewed case by case
    • Not guaranteed
  • Proof of address must be submitted
  • Paid directly to the individual if approved

What the Bursary Does NOT Cover

  • Food or meal allowances
  • Outstanding university debt
  • Repeat subjects (students pay for repeats themselves)
