About Umngeni-Uthukela Water
UMngeni-uThukela Water is one of South Africa’s major water boards, responsible for supplying bulk potable water and sanitation services in KwaZulu-Natal. The organisation plays a critical role in:
- Ensuring clean, reliable water for communities and industries
- Supporting sustainable economic development
- Maintaining infrastructure that protects water quality and supply
- Creating skills development and work opportunities for local youth
The organisation is big on public service, technical excellence, environmental sustainability, and empowering young South Africans through structured training.
Their internship programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and real-world work experience — something South Africa’s youth desperately need.
Why This Internship Matters
Youth unemployment in South Africa remains extremely high — especially for graduates who struggle to secure that crucial “first job experience.” UMngeni-uThukela Water understands this reality and is offering structured, meaningful, and career-shaping opportunities that go beyond just “work exposure.”
Over 24 months, you will:
- Work directly with experienced professionals
- Gain real responsibilities and technical exposure
- Build a strong professional network
- Improve your employability and readiness for the job market
- Work in environments (PMB, Richards Bay, Pinetown) that support economic development
Opportunities like these are rare because:
- They offer long-term training (2 years)
- They cover multiple academic fields
- They accept graduates with no prior experience
- They support local youth development
If you take this seriously, this internship can open doors you never imagined.
