The Vodacom Foundation is recruiting young South Africans with IT skills to join their Youth Development Programme as ICT Coordinators for a two-year paid placement.
This initiative is designed to help youth gain real-world work experience as entry-level IT Technicians, contributing to the digital transformation of schools and community centres across South Africa.

Successful candidates will be placed at Schools of Excellence, Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs), or Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres supported by the Vodacom Foundation.

This is a powerful opportunity for youth who want to build a solid foundation in IT support while contributing to social impact.

What ICT Coordinators Will Do

As an ICT Coordinator, your daily responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining computer labs and ICT equipment
  • Troubleshooting minor technical problems
  • Monitoring network connectivity
  • Supporting teachers, learners, and organisation staff
  • Ensuring smooth operation of digital learning environments

Coordinator Selection Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

Minimum Requirements

  • Have a Matric certificate with at least 50% average
  • Hold a relevant IT Technical Support qualification
  • Reside within the radius of the School of Excellence, NPO or ECD where placement is offered
  • Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID
  • Be 18–35 years old
  • Meet the residency criteria for each listed area (placements are area-specific)

Additional Notes

  • Only applicants living in the listed areas will be considered
  • Police clearance will be conducted

No. This programme is designed for youth with little or no professional experience in IT.

  1. Will I get paid?

Yes. Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend for the full two-year duration.

  1. What qualification must I have?

You need a Matric certificate (50%+) and an IT Technical Support qualification.

  1. I don’t live in the listed areas. Can I apply?

No. Only applicants residing in the specified areas will be considered.

  1. Is this a permanent job?

No. It’s a two-year youth development placement, but the experience can open doors to future IT roles.

  1. Will training be provided?

Yes. You will receive on-the-job training and support throughout the programme.
