About UNISA CSET

The College of Science, Engineering, and Technology (CSET) at the University of South Africa (Unisa) is home to innovation, research, and technological advancement. Through strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as MTN, CSET provides its students with real-world experience and exposure to the fast-changing ICT landscape.

This collaboration between Unisa’s Department of Information and Communications Technology and MTN seeks to nurture top academic talent and develop future industry professionals who will drive innovation in South Africa and beyond.

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be final-year undergraduate or postgraduate (Honours/Master’s) students registered for 2025 and planning to continue or register for 2026.
  • Final-year students must clearly indicate if they plan to pursue postgraduate studies full-time in 2026.
  • Be South African citizens belonging to any of the following designated groups:
    • African (male or female)
    • Coloured (male or female)
    • Indian (female)
  • Display strong academic performance, especially in core modules.

Minimum Academic Requirement

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum overall average of 70% or higher.
  • Consistent academic excellence across core computing, engineering, or analytical modules.

Eligible Qualifications

Students pursuing any of the following qualification streams are encouraged to apply:

  1. Computing, Engineering, and Data Disciplines
  2. Mathematical, Analytical, and Commercial Disciplines
