What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be behind the wheel of UCT’s shuttle service—ferrying people seamlessly between campuses, residences, and designated stops. You’ll manage waybills, maintain vehicle standards, and deliver standout customer service. Safety is key: you’ll employ defensive driving techniques and respond professionally in emergencies. This role reports directly to the Operations Manager.

POSTS: TRANSPORT DRIVER (13 VACANCIES)

Requirements include:

  • A Grade 12 certificate or NQF level 4 qualification
  • 5 years’ relevant bus driving experience in the Passenger Transport Industry
  • An unendorsed South African Driver’s license – Code C or EC
  • A valid professional driver’s permit (PrDP)
  • Customer focus with good communication skills.
  • An ability to work in a team and under pressure.
  • The incumbent will be required to work shifts.

Advantageous

  • Being in possession of an Advanced driving certificate

 

 

Duties will include, but are not necessarily restricted to:

  • Driving UCT students and staff and visitors on and between campuses / residence as per waybill system.
  • Applying defensive techniques when driving.
  • Ensuring that the vehicles you use are kept in a clean, tidy, and road-worthy condition always.
  • Complying with the rules and regulations of the National Road Traffic Agency.
  • Attend to and report emergency situations regarding shuttle operations.
  • Providing excellent face-to-face customer service to clients.
  • Other related duties that may be allocated to you.
