The Department of Employment and Labour, through the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Labour Activation Programme (LAP) in partnership with We Invest Africa, is inviting unemployed South Africans to apply for exciting learnership opportunities. These learnerships are designed to empower job seekers with valuable skills in building, civil construction, farming, plant production, and animal production – sectors that remain critical for economic growth and job creation in South Africa.
With unemployment being one of the biggest challenges faced by communities, this initiative aims to provide skills development and work experience while paying participants a monthly stipend, ensuring that learners are financially supported throughout the programme.
Programme Overview
- Available Learnerships:
- Building and Civil Construction & Farming
- Building and Civil Construction & Animal Production
- Building and Civil Construction & Plant Production
- Duration: 12 months
- Monthly Stipend: R3,000 per learner
- Target Beneficiaries: Unemployed UIF previous contributors between the ages of 18 and 45.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of Grade 10 and above.
- Must be a previous UIF contributor.
- Must be unemployed and within the age group 18–45 years.
- Residents of Tshimbupfe, Nwamatatani, or Makhasa (depending on location of recruitment session).
Applicants are encouraged to bring the following documents to the recruitment venue:
- Pen, CV, copies of qualifications, and a copy of ID.
