About Thaba Chweu Local Municipality
Thaba Chweu Municipality serves communities in Mashishing (Lydenburg), Graskop, Sabie and surrounding rural areas in Mpumalanga. The municipality plays an essential role in service delivery, infrastructure management, and community development. By offering learnerships, it aims to uplift local youth and improve employability in sectors such as water services, sanitation, engineering, and environmental management.
SINRMAS
SINRMAS (Skills in Natural Resource Management and Sustainability) works with local institutions to provide accredited training and development programmes aimed at improving environmental and water sector skills.
EWSETA
The Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) funds skills programmes aimed at solving critical shortages in the water and energy sectors. This learnership is fully funded and aligned with their mandate of empowering youth for employability.
Learnership Details
The programme leads to an Occupational Certificate: Water Process Controller, SAQA ID 102255, at NQF Level 3, worth 181 credits.
What the Learnership Includes
- On-the-job training at municipal water facilities

- Practical exposure to water operations in Mashishing, Sabie and Graskop

Requirements
To qualify for this learnership, you must:
- Be 18–35 years old
- Have Grade 12 (Matric)
- Have NO criminal record
- Live in Mashishing, Graskop, Sabie or surrounding wards
- Be willing to sign a commitment to remain in the learnership for the full 12 months
- Be unemployed
- Previously disadvantaged youth will receive preference
