The Swartland Municipality, a progressive local government situated in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, continues to lead in providing meaningful career development opportunities for the youth. One such opportunity is the Risk Management Internship Programme, designed to equip graduates with hands-on experience in the strategic realm of risk governance, compliance, and assurance within the public sector.

Why Risk Management?

Risk management is an essential component of modern governance, ensuring that municipalities identify, evaluate, and address potential threats that could compromise service delivery and operational efficiency. With an increasing demand for skilled professionals in this discipline, the Swartland Municipality’s internship programme bridges the gap between academic theory and practical application. Interns are immersed in the municipality’s risk framework, gaining insights into policy development, risk registers, internal controls, and audit processes.

 

 

WHO CAN APPLY?

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to public service and ethical conduct.
  • Be available for a 24 month full-time internship.
  • NQF 6 or higher qualification in Risk Management, Internal Auditing or equivalent qualification and must include subjects such as Internal Auditing and Risk Management
  • Computer literate in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good Afrikaans/English writing skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Valid Code B driver’s license will serve as a recommendation

INTERNSHIP BENEFITS:

The Swartland Municipality Risk Management Internship offers more than just a learning experience:

  • A motivational cover letter indicating interest in the Risk Management Internship.
