About the Programme
The SAB Graduate Procurement Training Programme is a competitive and structured development journey made up of two distinct phases:
- Phase 1 (Band VIII: 9 months): Candidates begin their training by engaging in foundational projects and evaluations.
- Phase 2 (Band VII: 12–18 months): Successful participants from Phase 1 progress into a more advanced stage, taking on greater responsibilities and leadership exposure.
Progression into Phase 2 is determined by robust evaluations, ensuring only the most driven and capable graduates advance.
The programme is built on the 70-20-10 learning principle, where:
- 70% of learning comes from challenging experiences and real projects,
- 20% from mentoring, coaching, and developmental relationships, and
- 10% from coursework and formal training.
This blended model ensures graduates develop both technical expertise and essential leadership skills.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
As a Graduate Trainee in Procurement, you will gain hands-on experience while contributing to SAB’s success. Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving procurement category strategic projects.
- Supporting category managers and directors on top procurement initiatives.
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities to increase business value and free up working capital.
- Conducting process optimization analysis and making actionable recommendations.
- Providing market trend analysis and sourcing strategy insights.
- Managing product and service sourcing using SAB’s 8-step sourcing methodology.
- Evaluating product specifications to ensure alignment with business needs.
