SAFETY OFFICER VACANCIES (X4 POSTS) AT MURRAY AND DICKSON CONSTRUCTION

 

 

Murray and Dickson Construction invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Safety Officer Vacancies (X4 Posts). The closing date for applications is the 5th April 2024

POSTS: SAFETY OFFICER (4 POSITIONS)

  • Nature of contract: Limited Duration Contract
  • Office Location: Site (SASOL)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12
  • SAMTRAC / COSMOC / NADSAM or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • SACPCMP certified
  • ISO 45001 Experience
  • Ms Office Software
  • Legal liability in either OHS Act, Construction Regulations.
  • Incident Investigation
  • SASOL experience is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Around here, “Safety begins with me”.
  • Full comprehension of and competent ability to discharge his/her duties as the OHS Act CR 8(5)/ MHSA Sec 2.17.1;
  • Implementing and management of Health and Safety systems and plans
  • Always ensure legal compliance with OHS Act and MHS Act, ISO health and safety standards, client specifications, as well as any other applicable legislation
  • Conduct all internal H&S induction training to all employees and contractors at the Project. (Induction, HIRA, Correct use of PPE, Safe behaviour and awareness
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Integrated Management Systems (ISO).
  • Conduct regular safety and environmental audits maintenance and reporting of safety and environmental performance and maintaining a proper record-keeping system in line with OHS / MHS Act and applicable Environmental requirements.
  • Safety inductions for new employees and contractors and foster health and safety awareness on site.
  • Assist in compiling risk assessments. (Baseline, Issue and continuous)
  • Ensure that daily risk assessments are completed correctly, assessed, approved, communicated, and distributed.
  • Manage safety performance of subcontractors. Ensure no sub-contractor is permitted to work on site without being in possession of an approved safety file.
  • Compiling, approval and updating of health and safety file.
  • Ensure all employees/visitors are inducted prior to being permitted to enter or work on site.

 

 

  • Ensure that all appointments are done as per the site SHE organogram and the communication of the responsibilities to the appointee is explained and understood.
  • Prepare the site emergency evacuation plan and ensure all supervisors and contractors are supplied with a copy of the plan.
  • Assist and support environmental officer where applicable or in the absence of an EO, assume responsibility for EN duties of the site compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that all monthly and weekly applicable inspections are completed and recorded.
  • Revise HSE Plan when applicable and required.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and applicable reporting.
  • Conducting regular site internal audits at all levels
  • Ensure and manage the safety awareness including BBS, toolbox talks, DSTI’s, PTO’s etc.
  • Be the company’s UGRs Champion on site.
