The South African Diamond and Precious Metals Regulator (SADPMR) continues to play a vital role in transforming and regulating South Africa’s diamond and precious metals industries. As part of its mandate to promote skills development and support youth empowerment, the SADPMR offers an exceptional Metallurgical Engineering Graduate Internship Programme tailored for qualified graduates who are eager to gain hands-on industry experience.
This Graduate internship programme is designed for young professionals with a National Diploma or Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, who are passionate about the beneficiation, processing, and regulation of South Africa’s rich mineral resources. WHAT THE INTERNSHIP OFFERS:
Interns admitted into the SADPMR Metallurgical Engineering Programme will have the opportunity to:
- Work alongside skilled professionals in the fields of mineral processing, assay, refining, and regulation.
- Gain exposure to the compliance and regulatory frameworks governing the diamond and precious metals sectors.
- Understand the sampling and laboratory techniques used in testing and evaluating precious metals.
- Participate in monitoring and inspection processes that ensure ethical and legal beneficiation of resources.
- Develop strong competencies in report writing, technical evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
The internship typically runs for 24 months, depending on the availability of projects and organisational needs. Interns receive a monthly stipend, which makes it possible for them to focus on developing their skills without financial strain.
