In a nation where youth unemployment continues to be a pressing issue, strategic corporate initiatives like the PPC YES Youth Development Training Programme are beacons of hope. Launched as part of the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative, PPC (Pretoria Portland Cement) has joined forces with the private sector and government to tackle youth unemployment and skills development head-on.
What is the PPC YES Youth Development Training Programme?
The PPC YES Youth Development Programme is an innovative initiative that provides young South Africans with structured work experience, practical training, and real-world exposure in the cement and construction industries. Through this initiative, PPC aims to create pathways for sustainable employment and long-term economic participation.
Each year, PPC opens up training and development opportunities to hundreds of youth, helping them gain valuable workplace experience in areas such as engineering, plant operations, business administration, logistics, supply chain, and marketing. The programme supports youth from various backgrounds and locations, particularly in communities surrounding PPC’s operational sites.

Impact and Vision
Since the inception of its YES Programme, PPC has successfully placed numerous young people into training roles — many of whom have gone on to secure permanent jobs within PPC or elsewhere in the sector. The initiative not only supports government’s employment goals but also invests in the future of South Africa by building a pipeline of skilled and motivated young professionals.
Through partnerships like YES, PPC is demonstrating that real transformation happens when the private sector takes active steps to develop youth talent.

I’m glad to hear that n I’m also looking for a job I’m 26 years agent anything
I am glad to hear about this application
I seek challenging opportunities where I can fully use my skills and experience
I honestly think it would have been more nicer had they been more specific on the requirements.
Thousands of potential applicants will rush to make CVs and copies of their particulars only to find out they do not qualify as the company is looking for applicants who had done the STEM subjects at high school.
More and more of these companies have done this and this makes one wonder what is the purpose of this.
This is deeply frustrating.
