Northern Coal is inviting students to apply for its bursary programme for 2026. The bursaries are aimed at those pursuing studies within the mining sector, ensuring future industry growth and sustainability.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements before applying:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Must intend to study full-time within one of the listed Engineering fields.
  • Must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited South African tertiary institution.
  • Must have a strong academic record with at least 60% in Mathematics and Science.
  • Must be self-disciplined, energetic, and committed to personal development.
  • Must demonstrate problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid certificate of fitness in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Preference will be given to students from local communities in alignment with Northern Coal’s Employment Equity and Social & Labour Plan, though students from other regions are also encouraged to apply.
