The Kumkani Mhlontlo Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape has officially opened applications for its Finance Internship Programme. There are three (X3) exciting opportunities for unemployed graduates who are interested in finance, economics, and public administration. These internships will last for three years and give you real-world experience working in one of the province’s main service delivery municipalities.

Available Internships: Finance Interns (3 Positions)

  • Department: Budget and Treasury Office
  • Duration: 3 Years Contract
  • Annual Salary: R90,000 to R100,000 a year
  • Station: Daily Dispatch

This internship gives graduates a unique chance to work directly with budgeting, financial monitoring, and municipal finance systems, which is the kind of experience that many employers are looking for.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

A three-year national diploma or bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas:

  • Economics
  • Accounting
  • Internal Auditing
  • Economics & Econometrics
  • Business Studies
  • Risk Management
  • Auditing

These qualifications are essential as they form the foundation of the technical skills required in municipal finance functions.

 

 

Important Duties

People who are successful will be actively involved in:

  • Budgeting: Helping to make and keep up with city budgets.
  • Budget Monitoring: Tracking expenditure and revenue against approved budgets.
  • Asset Management: Assisting with the maintenance and verification of municipal assets.

The internship gives interns a full view of how finances work, making sure they learn skills that are useful in the real world, as required by the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).
