Gauteng Social Development: Social Work Internship Programme 2025 (X202 Posts)

 

 

The Gauteng Department of Social Development has officially announced exciting internship opportunities for 2025 aimed at empowering young South Africans in the social services sector. With a total of 202 posts available across Gauteng, this is a rare chance for unemployed graduates and aspiring professionals to gain structured workplace experience in government.

The department seeks passionate, committed, and community-driven individuals to join its Social Work Internship (REFS/022686 – 149 posts) and Social Auxiliary Work Internship (REFS/022668 – 53 posts) programmes. Both initiatives are designed to address youth unemployment while equipping participants with skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society.

STIPEND : R5 639-75 to R7 860-50 per month (depending on the NQF level of the qualification)

CENTRE : Head Office, Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, Sedibeng, West Rand and Johannesburg (incl. Institutions)

POST 1: SOCIAL WORK INTERNSHIP REFS/022686 (X149 POSTS)

REQUIREMENTS :

  • BA: Social Work.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals.

DUTIES :

  • Practical work experience for unemployed youth who require exposure in a work environment.
  • Graduates should be prepared to be placed throughout all corridors and institutions within the Gauteng Department of Social Development.

 

POST 2: SOCIAL AUXILLARY WORK INTERNSHIP REFS/022668 (X53 POST)

REQUIREMENTS :

  • FETC NQF Level 4 or 5 in Social Auxiliary Work.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals.

DUTIES :

  • Practical work experience for unemployed youth who require exposure in a work environment.
  • Graduates should be prepared to be placed throughout all corridors and institutions within the Gauteng Department of Social Development.

Applications must be submitted on the New signed Z83 form and must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae (C.V)
  • Certified copies of qualification certificates and Certified Identity Book (I.D) or card

(Certified copies must not be older that six (6) months).

  • Iam interested in community work as I was a community health worker in an NGO at Etwatwa community there where so many challenges that we have come across in both health and social problems. The area is very huge as well as the need of the community members. Iam concern about the age limit.
