POSTS: EXAMINER VTS X2
Salary Scale: Task Grade 11 of a Grade 2 Local Authority (R304 991.76 – R395 894.04 p.a) plus Travelling and Cell phone allowance as per approved council policy and normal fringe benefit applicable to Local Government.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12, Examiner of Vehicles Diploma.
- Grade A Examiner will be an added advantage.
- Registered as an examiner for driving licenses or NATIS user.
- Minimum one (1) year practical experience as an examiner for driving license or as a Licensing Officer.
- Code EC driver’s licence.
- Clear criminal record is required.
KEY COMPETENCY SKILLS:
- Knowledge of VTS examination.
- Clear criminal records
- Good communication skills required.
- Good customer care skills, Report writing skills.
- Must have a sound knowledge of the National Road Traffic Act.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Determining mechanical roadworthiness of all codes of vehicles in accordance with Road Safety and Traffic regulations, conducting visual tests and using electronic test equipment to establish conformance/ deviations with specifications and/ or driving vehicles to assess braking/ steering performance prior to issuing certificate.
- Responsible for the administration and enforcement of the National Roads Traffic Act and regulations to sustain the function of the motor vehicle Licensing Authority.
- Checking of documents before registration and licensing of vehicles by each section as prescribed.
- Perform general inspections of the municipal fleet.
- Take care of testing equipment and documents used by the facility.
- Ensure proper filing of records.
- Perform joint operations of the Municipal, Provincial and District team when necessary.
- Discussing with the candidate on observations made in order for the candidate to improve faults.
- Exercise powers and functions of traffic officer as per clause 31 of National Road Traffic Act No.93 1996, to provide auxiliary services such as traffic patrol work etc, through the co-ordination of operations and quality systems and approval/certification processes in accordance with statutory legislation regulating Road Safety.
