Ernst & Young (EY) University Bursary Programme for 2026

The journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant is both exciting and challenging, but financial barriers often stand in the way of many talented students. Recognising this, Ernst & Young (EY), one of the world’s leading professional services firms, offers the University Bursary Programme for 2026. This initiative is designed to empower ambitious South African students to reach their full potential, regardless of financial circumstances, while preparing them to thrive in a global and innovative business environment.

Why Choose EY?

EY doesn’t just invest in your studies; it invests in your future. With the motto “The exceptional EY experience. It’s yours to build,” the bursary is more than just financial assistance. Students gain access to:

  • Coaching and mentorship from industry professionals.
  • Formal training programmes that prepare you for real-world challenges.
  • Professional qualification support to help you become a Chartered Accountant.
  • Networking opportunities with colleagues, mentors, and leaders across EY’s global footprint.

This approach ensures that bursary recipients don’t only complete their academic studies but also develop the leadership, technical, and personal skills required to make a meaningful impact.

What EY Looks For

The EY Bursary Programme is aimed at students who:

  • Have strong academic performance in accounting and related fields.
  • Intend to qualify as a Chartered Accountant (SA).
  • Demonstrate commitment, leadership potential, and resilience.
  • Have financial need that may otherwise limit their studies.

Applicants are expected to show more than just academic results. EY values individuals who can bring fresh ideas and perspectives, adapt to cultural diversity, and confidently share their thoughts and opinions.

Benefits Beyond Funding

Unlike many bursaries, the EY programme is designed as a developmental journey. Recipients can expect:

  • Global exposure through integrated team projects.
  • Transformational leadership courses to sharpen future-ready skills.
  • Support during exams and studies through tailored sessions like TLC calls and Smart Sessions.
  • Engagement opportunities such as holiday programmes and interactive online events.
  • Branded EY gear and experiences to build a sense of pride and belonging.

Ultimately, the bursary equips you with the tools, environment, and confidence to become a future leader in the accounting profession.
