Transnet Freight Rail invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Erector Vacancies (X10 Posts). The closing date for applications is the 16th August 2024

POSITION TITLE: ERECTORS X10

• Department: Electrical Engineering Works

JOB PURPOSE:

To install, erect and repair OHTE equipment on a railway line(s) as a result of planned or unplanned construction work to ensure that TFR operating division meet their goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Grade 12 with 3 years of experience or Grade 10 with minimum of 5 years proven experience in OHTE railway construction
• C Green certificate
• Working at height certificate
• First Aid level 1

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Good Communication and Negotiation skills
• Identification of tools and material for specific OHTE components.
• Understanding method statements, safe working procedure

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Install or erect OHTE structures under the control of the Supervisor OHTE.
• Assist with the planning and preparation of tools, material required to execute a given task
• Read, interpret and understand electrification layout and associated drawings
• Safe working clearance on different electrification systems such as 3Kv DC, 25 Kv AC, S0Kv AC and 6.6Kv or 11Kv transaction lines.
• Identification of tools and material for specific OHTE components.
• Understanding functioning of hand tools machines, compressor and rail mounted crane.
• Handling, loading and offloading of tools and materials.
• Assess and monitor condition of hand tools and measuring tools.
• Be able to observe that an occupation is granted and permit book is signed prior to commencing work.
