The ETDP SETA Mpumalanga provincial office, in partnership with Ehlanzeni TVET College, is creating new pathways for South African youth to thrive in the agricultural and business sectors. Through the New Venture Creation Short Skills Programme (SP-210401, NQF Level 2), young people have the opportunity to gain the skills needed to establish and manage sustainable small businesses.
This initiative is designed for 50 aspiring agripreneurs who are eager to transform their ideas into fully operational enterprises. By combining both practical and theoretical training, the programme will empower participants with the knowledge, confidence, and resources needed to succeed in South Africa’s fast-growing agribusiness sector.
Programme Overview
The six-month skills programme is specifically tailored to prepare candidates to operate small businesses. Graduates of the programme will not only understand how to start and grow a venture but also how to sustain it in the long run. This training emphasizes entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and agricultural knowledge, equipping participants with the critical tools needed for success.
Upon graduation, participants will also receive incubation support, access to business development services, market linkages, and potential funding opportunities. This makes the programme more than just training—it is a launchpad for small business success.
Stipend and Support
To ensure that learners can focus fully on their training, participants will receive a monthly stipend of R3,000. This financial support helps cover basic needs, making the programme accessible to those who might otherwise be unable to participate.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants interested in this opportunity must meet the following entry criteria:
- Educational Requirements: NCV Level 3, N3, or Grade 11 with Agriculture Science.
- Applicants must not be enrolled in any other programme during the six-month training period.
- NCV Level 4, N4, or Grade 12 will serve as an added advantage.
This ensures that the programme is open to young people who have a foundational understanding of agriculture while still being accessible to those who may not yet have advanced qualifications.
