The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure invites ex TVET College learners to register on a database for recruitment on the Accelerated Professional and Trade Competency Development Programme (APTCoD). Closing date: 15 December 2022
The APTCoD programme is an initiative of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure which aims to accelerate the acquisition of quality technical skills in the Eastern Cape Province with specific reference to construction and related disciplines and to provide quality workplace experience under the guidance of experienced artisans / Mentors towards their trade tests. The duration of the programme is 4 years.
The department has MOU/SLA with different State owned Companies like Eskom and Transnet for placement of some learners.
STIPEND PER MONTH: R3 000.00
REQUIREMENTS FOR SELECTION: APTCoD
Interested candidates should submit the following: –
- CV
- Certified Copy of the ID
- Minimum qualification – N2 or NCV level 3 for Plumbing, Bricklaying and Carpentry Trades
- Minimum of grade 10 Welding Trade.
- Minimum qualification of N3 – Electrical and Mechanical Trades.
- Minimum of Grade 12- Painting Trade.
- Proof of residence
Ex NYS Learners with minimum of 50% RPL results and EPWP Maintenance Programme Participants with built environment experience will be considered for recruitment on the APTCoD programme.
Applicants with built environment background/trade experience with no qualification, will be subjected to the RPL and must obtain a minimum of 50% to be considered for recruitment to APTCoD programme.
National Youth Service (NYS)
The Department is also inviting young people to register on a database for National Youth Service (NYS) programme. The objective of the programme is to provide training to young people in different skills in order to acquire the experience needed to be employable. The duration of the programme is 18 months.
STIPEND PER MONTH: R2 400.00
REQUIREMENTS FOR SELECTION – NYS
Interested candidates should submit the following:

- Minimum qualification – Grade 10
- Proof of residence
The target for both programmes is unemployed youth between the ages 18-35 (APTCoD and NYS). The Department may consider applicants between ages of 36-45 years on APTCoD programme. The opportunity is targeting people of the Eastern Cape Province, Youth, Women and people with disabilities.
