The East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ) SOC Ltd, a state-owned corporation in the Eastern Cape, is inviting undergraduate students to apply for exciting Experiential Learning Opportunities for 2025. This initiative forms part of the government’s Special Economic Zones (SEZ) Programme, which is designed to attract investment, stimulate economic growth, and provide young people with opportunities to gain valuable workplace experience.
For undergraduates, gaining practical exposure is often a critical requirement to complete their qualifications. ELIDZ is bridging this gap by offering structured learning programmes that run between 3 and 18 months, depending on the requirements of the respective higher learning institutions. These internships not only enhance employability but also prepare learners for future careers in critical sectors.
Available Fields of Exposure
ELIDZ is offering placements in the following areas:
- STP Laboratory (x3 Learners)
- Field of Study: Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry
- Students will gain exposure in a laboratory environment, supporting research and analysis while applying their theoretical knowledge to real-world testing and development.
- Human Capital Management (x2 Learners)
- Field of Study: Human Resources Management
- Interns will assist the Human Capital division with HR functions, employee engagement, recruitment processes, and overall organizational development.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be currently studying towards a relevant qualification at an accredited institution of learning.
- Submit an approved Request for Experiential Training Letter from their institution.
- Submit a full academic record (priority will be given to top academic performers).
- Be South African citizens, with preference given to applicants residing within Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
- Be under 35 years of age.
- Preference will also be given to students with disabilities, in line with ELIDZ’s inclusive development policies.

- A formal application letter clearly stating the field of exposure they are applying for.
- A comprehensive CV.
- A certified copy of their ID document.
- A full academic record.
- An Approved Request for Experiential Training Letter.
