These requirements aim to ensure that the opportunity is accessible to youth and community members who are passionate about making a real difference in their neighborhoods.

Primary Function of the Role

The central role of the Eco-Guides is to lead environmental awareness campaigns across communities. This goes beyond just information-sharing—it involves engaging with local businesses, schools, households, and the general public to inspire lasting environmental responsibility.

Eco-Guides will act as ambassadors for sustainable living, encouraging practices that reduce waste, conserve resources, and protect the natural environment.

Key Performance Areas

As an Eco-Guide, participants will focus on several key areas of impact, including:

  • Leading environmental awareness campaigns: Designing and delivering community-based initiatives to educate residents on pressing environmental issues such as waste management, recycling, and energy efficiency.
  • Conducting and organizing Spaza Shop environmental outreach: Engaging small business owners to promote eco-friendly practices in their daily operations.
  • Educational activities: Hosting workshops, outreach drives, and awareness sessions that foster sustainable community practices.

These responsibilities ensure that the Eco-Guides contribute to both environmental protection and the city’s broader development goals.
