The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) is calling on young, ambitious learners and students to apply for the Mayoral Bursary Fund for the 2026 academic year. Who Can Apply?

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be South African citizens permanently residing within the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
  • Be currently in Matric (Grade 12) or already studying at a recognised South African public institution of higher learning.
  • Provide proof of academic excellence and potential, demonstrated through Grade 11/12 results or current academic transcripts.
  • Be from a financially disadvantaged background (household income and proof may be required).
  • Be willing to enter into an agreement with the Municipality and, upon completion of studies, contribute skills back to the community if required.

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary provides comprehensive financial assistance, which may include:
