About the Programme
The Anglo American Engineering Learnership is structured into three enriching phases:
- First Year: Institutional training at Sivos Technical Training Centre, where learners receive formal technical education to build foundational knowledge.
- Second Year: On-the-job/core training at Kolomela Mine, exposing learners to real work conditions, machinery, and problem-solving in the mining sector.
- Third Year: Preparation for and completion of the trade test, enabling successful learners to qualify as skilled artisans in their chosen trade.
Throughout the programme, learners will receive a monthly stipend/allowance, ensuring financial support while studying and training.
Available Engineering Trades
The programme offers learners the opportunity to specialise in the following engineering trades:
- Diesel Mechanic
- Instrumentation
- Fitter
- Boilermaker
- Auto Electrician
- Electrician
- Rigger
- Millwright (requires additional subjects)
These trades are in high demand within the mining and engineering industries, offering learners the chance to pursue long-term employment opportunities after successful completion.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the programme, applicants must meet the following entry criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 certificate and an N2 certificate with four relevant subjects (Millwright trade applicants must have five relevant subjects).
- Medical Assessment: Must successfully pass a medical job-fit assessment (RFA).
- Residency: Preference will be given to candidates who reside in the Tsantsabane Municipality.
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years.
