African Marine Solutions (AMSOL) is opening the door for passionate young South Africans to build careers in the maritime sector through its 2026 Bursary Programme. What the Bursary Covers
The AMSOL bursary is designed to support students pursuing critical skills for the maritime economy. At a minimum, tuition fees will be covered. Additional expenses such as residence, meals, and textbooks may also be funded at AMSOL’s discretion, depending on your financial and personal circumstances.
Successful candidates may also be offered employment opportunities with AMSOL after graduation, based on operational requirements. This makes it not just a bursary but also a potential pathway to secure work in South Africa’s thriving maritime industry.
Fields of Study Supported
Applicants can apply for funding in the following disciplines at a tertiary institution or SAMSA-accredited training facility:
- Bachelor of Marine Engineering
- Bachelor of Nautical Science
- Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (Deck Officer)
These qualifications are internationally recognised and prepare graduates for specialised careers both onshore and offshore.
Who Can Apply?
To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Hold a Grade 12 qualification with at least Level 5 (60%) in English, Mathematics, and Physical Science.
- Be an unbonded student – not already funded by another bursary for 2026.
This bursary is aimed at committed, hard-working students ready to invest in a long-term career in maritime.
