About Redstone CSP & ACWA Power
The Redstone CSP Independent Power Project is located 25 km east of Postmasburg. This new solar power plant is not just another renewable energy project—it’s the future of South African energy.
Here’s why:
- It uses Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Tower Technology
This is one of the most advanced renewable energy systems globally. Instead of normal solar panels, CSP uses mirrors and a central tower to generate massive quantities of clean energy.
- It’s part of South Africa’s Renewable IPP Programme
This means the project is one of the flagship developments the government has approved to drive sustainable power generation.
- It has the largest thermal storage system ever built in South Africa
This allows the plant to store heat and continue producing power even when the sun is not shining.
- One of the most efficient CSP plants globally
With the ability to generate more than 480 GWh/year, Redstone CSP will supply clean energy to thousands of homes and reduce pressure on the national grid.
- Built on a BOO model (Build, Own, Operate)
ACWA Power oversees the entire lifecycle of the project, proving their long-term investment in South Africa’s youth and communities.
This bursary is part of ACWA Power’s commitment to uplifting local communities surrounding the Redstone project.
Why This Bursary Matters
