The Alfred Duma Local Municipality in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, has introduced an exciting opportunity for unemployed graduates to gain valuable work exposure through the Youth Mass Skilling Programme. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical workplace experience, while equipping young professionals with the skills they need to secure long-term employment.

The programme runs for 12 months and places graduates in various municipal departments. During this period, participants will work full-time, Monday to Friday, gaining practical knowledge, professional exposure, and workplace confidence. This is not only a chance to gain hands-on experience but also an opportunity to prepare for advertised municipal vacancies and future career prospects.

Who Can Apply?

The municipality will only consider graduates who have completed a degree, diploma, or N6 certificate in the following fields:

  • Finance & Management: Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Business Management/LED, Project Management, Risk Management, Internal Auditing, Accounting.
  • Public Administration & Governance: Public Management, Law, Youth Development, Community Development, Human Resources Management, Communication.
  • Technical & Engineering: Engineering (Electrical/Civil), Town Planning & Regional Development, Information Technology.
  • Agriculture & Tourism: Agriculture/Horticulture, Tourism Management.
  • Other Specialized Areas: Library Services.

This wide range of disciplines ensures that graduates from different backgrounds can find suitable placement opportunities within the municipality.

 

 

Benefits of the Programme

  • Allowance: Participants will receive R100.00 per day for the duration of the programme.
  • Work Exposure: Graduates will gain direct insight into municipal operations and service delivery.
