As South Africa rapidly embraces the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), the demand for digital skills has never been higher. Recognizing the urgent need to prepare young professionals for this evolving digital landscape, the Ehlanzeni District Municipality, in a powerful collaboration with ZAWIT (Zamani African Women in Tech), has launched an innovative Cybersecurity Analyst NQF5 Digital Skills Programme. This initiative marks a significant milestone in bridging the digital divide, fostering tech resilience, and empowering unemployed youth across Mpumalanga with industry-relevant, future-ready skills.

A Bold Step into the 4IR Era

The Cybersecurity Analyst NQF Level 5 qualification is an integral part of the 4IR Digital Skills Programme, focusing on equipping participants with practical knowledge and competencies in information security. With cyber threats escalating worldwide, the importance of having skilled cybersecurity professionals in both the public and private sectors has become critical. This programme responds to that need, aiming to develop cybersecurity analysts who can detect, prevent, and respond to digital threats in real-world environments.

Participants will undergo extensive training that covers the fundamentals of:

  • Network and Information Security
  • Threat Identification and Risk Analysis
  • Security Protocols and Firewalls
  • Ethical Hacking and Cyber Forensics
  • Regulatory Compliance and Data Protection

By embedding 4IR-aligned digital skills into local communities, this initiative helps transform the socioeconomic trajectory of the region.

 

 

Who Is Eligible?

The programme primarily targets unemployed youth and recent graduates from the Ehlanzeni District with a passion for technology, cybersecurity, and IT innovation. To qualify, applicants need to:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Between the ages of 18-35.
  • Have successfully completed a 3-year Degree/ Diploma in ICT, Computer Science, System Development, Computer Networks or any other ICT post qualification with an interest in acquiring digital skills.
  • Should not have participated in a similar programme.
  • Must be unemployed.

Preference is often given to women and individuals from historically disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting ZAWIT’s mission to promote gender inclusion in the tech space.
