The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), one of South Africa’s leading institutions of higher learning, has announced exciting Marker vacancies within its Department of Technology and Vocational Education under the Faculty of Humanities. Elevating Academic Excellence Through Markers

Markers play a pivotal role in maintaining the academic standards of any tertiary institution. At TUT, this role is even more significant, given its strong focus on quality education and skills development in the vocational education sector. The Department of Technology and Vocational Education trains future educators, lecturers, and practitioners to deliver effective and relevant instruction within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) landscape. As such, markers are instrumental in ensuring that the assessment process remains fair, objective, and aligned with both institutional outcomes and national standards.

The Department of Technology and Vocational Education in the Faculty of Humanities is advertising positions of markers x 10 for the following listed subjects below:

  • ALY105P and ALY105D Academic Literacy and Life skills
  • IBL105D, IBL206D, IBL306D and IBL107V Industry-Based Learning I
  • CBW105D, CBW206D and CBW306D College-Based WIL
  • CBA107V and CBB107V College-Based WIL
  • AEE105D, AEE206D and AEE306D Adult and Community Education Studies I
  • AEG105D, AEG206D and AEG306D Adult Education Management
  • CIF105D, CIF206D and CIF306D Curriculum Formal
  • EAY206D and EAY306D Entrepreneurship
  • CII105D, CII206D and CII306D Curriculum and Instruction
  • IED105D Inclusive Education

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS/CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Must have knowledge of the above subjects.
  • Must be a strategic and innovative thinker, with excellent conceptualization and analytical skills in the Further Education and Training bands.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Should demonstrate academic skills in the curricula processes in accordance with the current MRTEQ requirements.
  • Must be able to work interdependently with others and be a self-starter in marking and learning activities of Further Education and Training.
  • Must meet deadlines in the allocated tasks

 WHO SHOULD APPLY?

The university invites applications from individuals who:

  • Have relevant academic qualifications in education, technology education, or related disciplines.
  • Possess teaching experience or assessment background in the TVET, FET, or university sector.
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge in key modules such as Curriculum Studies, Teaching Practice, Educational Technology, or other humanities-based disciplines.
  • Are committed to upholding academic integrity, confidentiality, and timely delivery of results.

Postgraduate students, retired educators, and academic professionals with expertise in vocational education are particularly encouraged to apply.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Markers will be expected to:

  • Accurately mark and assess students’ scripts according to marking memoranda.
  • Provide constructive and insightful feedback where applicable.
  • Adhere to submission deadlines to ensure timely results processing.
  • Maintain confidentiality and academic professionalism throughout the process.
  • Work closely with departmental coordinators and faculty heads for quality assurance purposes.
