Are you passionate about becoming a teacher but do not yet meet the minimum entry requirements for a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree? South Cape TVET College, in collaboration with the University of South Africa (UNISA), is offering the Higher Certificate in Education (NQF Level 5) – a bridging qualification designed to unlock doors to the teaching profession.
This one-year programme provides a unique opportunity for aspiring educators to pursue either the Foundation Phase or Intermediate Phase teaching streams. With a total of 120 credits, the qualification prepares students for articulation into the UNISA Bachelor of Education degree, making it the only Higher Certificate programme in South Africa that directly leads into BEd studies.
Purpose of the Qualification
The programme is specially designed to provide access to candidates with potential who may not currently meet the requirements for direct entry into degree studies. By completing this qualification, students gain the foundation needed to progress into UNISA’s BEd Foundation Phase or Intermediate Phase programmes.
In short: if you’ve always dreamed of teaching, this is your stepping stone.
