Who Can Apply? – Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this 24-month internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African Citizen under the age of 35.
  • Must have completed a qualification (no current enrolments at other institutions).
  • Applicants must not have participated in any learnership or internship previously.
  • Must demonstrate effective English writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Must hold a BCom Accounting/Financial Management (specialising in Management Accounting) or equivalent qualification.

Additional requirements:

  • Applicants will undergo competency-based interviews.
  • Verification checks (criminal records, qualifications, and citizenship) will be conducted.
  • Successful candidates must sign a 24-month fixed-term contract.

Skills, Roles & Responsibilities

Interns will be placed at the IDC Mpumalanga Regional Office and across various departments. Responsibilities will include:

  • Building and managing professional relationships.
  • Supporting customer service initiatives and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Applying time management, scheduling, and attention to detail in daily tasks.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and professional integrity in all work.
  • Contributing to projects that require innovation, creativity, and strong problem-solving skills.

Technical Competencies:

  • Solid knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • In-depth understanding of your field of study and IDC operations.
  • Ability to liaise effectively at a high level.

Behavioural Competencies:

  • Proactive, professional, and willing to learn.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to cope with pressure and setbacks.
  • Respect for values, principles, and professional judgment.
