The Free State Office of the Premier has launched an empowering initiative aimed at boosting employment prospects for the province’s unemployed graduates. Through its Graduate Internship Programme, twenty (20) passionate individuals will be selected to undergo professional development and gain practical work experience within the public sector. This programme serves as a stepping stone for graduates aspiring to launch careers in public service, governance, and finance.
A Golden Opportunity for Free State Graduates
This internship opportunity is open to unemployed graduates above the age of sixteen (16) who hold an NQF Level 7 qualification. The selected interns will be appointed for a 24-month fixed-term internship, during which they will be strategically placed across four (04) core programmes in the Office of the Premier. These programmes are designed to offer hands-on exposure to the real working environment of government administration.
The Office of the Premier has made it clear that this is more than just a job placement – it is a capacity-building initiative aimed at producing competent professionals with critical public service skills. Interns will be mentored and developed in key areas such as:
- Technical skills development
- Good governance and ethical leadership
- Financial and administrative management
- Professional public service delivery
- Personal development and life skills training
Qualification Requirements
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree, B-Tech, or Advanced Diploma at NQF Level 7 in one of the following fields:
- Bachelor of Public Administration and Management or any Public Sector related qualification (or its equivalent)
- Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting
These fields of study are directly aligned with the competencies needed within the Office of the Premier, making the programme highly relevant for graduates seeking real-world experience within the structures of government.
