Department of Tourism Professional Cookery Learnership Programme 2025

Do you love food, hospitality, and want to work in South Africa’s booming tourism industry? The Department of Tourism and Harambe are asking young people who are out of work to apply for the Professional Cookery Learnership Programme. This exciting program will teach young people important cooking and hospitality skills and give them a way to get long-term jobs in the industry.

About the Program

The Professional Cookery Learnership lasts for a year and gives you a unique mix of theory and hands-on experience in the workplace. Those who are chosen will get training that gives them the skills and confidence they need to work in the hospitality and tourism industry.

People with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply to make sure that everyone has a fair chance. Candidates will sign a learnership contract that spells out their rights and responsibilities during the program.

Participants will get a monthly stipend of R4,600 to help them during the training. This is their base pay and is not based on how much they work.

Who can apply?

The program is open to South African youth aged 18 to 35 who are unemployed and love cooking and hospitality. This opportunity is for you if you are willing to work hard, be flexible, and want to grow in the tourism industry.
