Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) Internship Programme 2025

The Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) is proud to announce its Internship Programme under the Rural Roads Asset Management Systems (RRAMS). This initiative is designed to empower unemployed graduates residing within the municipality’s jurisdiction, equipping them with practical workplace exposure while assisting CHDM in implementing critical road infrastructure projects.

The programme offers five (05) internship placements for a period of two (2) years, with each successful intern receiving a monthly stipend of R8,000.00. The internship will be based at the municipality’s Head Office in Komani (Queenstown).

Why This Programme Matters

South Africa continues to face youth unemployment challenges, and the CHDM internship forms part of an important effort to build future-ready professionals. By combining job preparedness with practical learning, this programme allows interns to gain valuable exposure to the coordination, planning, and administration of engineering activities, particularly in the roads and transport sector.

Interns will also gain hands-on experience in using GIS applications, understanding transport systems, and contributing to the classification of road networks within the district. This is not only a career-building opportunity but also a way for young professionals to contribute meaningfully to the development of their own communities.
