Gert Sibande TVET College, in collaboration with KBS Artisan Training, is offering a golden opportunity for unemployed youth to gain essential technical skills in welding and gas cutting. With a total of 100 training posts available, this initiative is designed to empower students with industry-relevant competencies and enhance their employability in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
Training Opportunities Available
Two specialised short programmes are open for application:
- Carbon Steel Welder 2 Training – 50 posts available
- Basic Welding Skills and Gas Cutting Training – 50 posts available
These programmes are short, intensive, and highly practical, preparing participants for opportunities in welding, fabrication, and engineering environments.
Duration
The training will run for 3 months, offering focused, hands-on instruction under qualified trainers to ensure that participants develop practical skills and confidence in the trade.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a qualification in:
- Report 191 — Engineering Studies N4 (Engineering Science and Mathematics), or
- NCV Engineering Studies (Level 2).
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Must be unemployed, not studying, or intending to study during the training period.
- Must not be involved in any other training programme, learnership, or internship.
- Must be proficient in English and demonstrate a willingness to work in a diverse environment.
- Must have no criminal record.
- Only Gert Sibande TVET College students are eligible to apply.
- Preference will be given to residents of Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.
This targeted approach ensures that opportunities benefit local students and communities while addressing youth unemployment challenges.
