About the Organisation

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Academy (ACRA) is a fully accredited training and trade test centre recognised by QCTO, NAMB, DHET, and SARACCA. With campuses located in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Northern Cape, ACRA offers industry-approved training in refrigeration, air-conditioning, and related engineering trades.

ACRA’s programmes ensure learners acquire both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience to prepare them for employment in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) sector. The academy is trusted across South Africa for producing highly skilled artisans.

Programme Description

ACRA is compiling a database of qualifying candidates who wish to be considered for future intakes into the HWSETA-funded Apprenticeship in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

Successful candidates will be placed at the nearest ACRA branch to receive a combination of:

  • Classroom-based theoretical training
  • Practical workshop training
  • Workplace-based experiential learning

Branches include:

  • Kempton Park, Gauteng
  • Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal
  • Kimberley, Northern Cape

This is a full apprenticeship pathway aimed at producing qualified refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians.

Requirements

To qualify for the ACRA HWSETA Apprenticeship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African Citizen (18–35 years)
  • Completed Grade 12
  • Must reside within proximity to an ACRA campus:
    • Gauteng (Kempton Park)
    • KwaZulu-Natal (Pinetown)
    • Northern Cape (Kimberley)
  • Must meet the physical and health requirements for the trade
  • Must meet trade-specific entry requirements for artisan training
