- Stipend: R100 000.00 per annum (All inclusive)
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
The MFMIP is a structured professional training and work experience programme with the goal of providing high quality training and practical exposure in all aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office, which is governed by the Municipal Finance Management Act, No 56 of 2003 and the underlying reforms.
The programme has a logical training sequence that builds on the skills and competencies acquired during University and Technikon training and ends with a qualification in Municipal Finance Management in accordance with the Municipal Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels, Gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007.
KEY INTERNSHIP INITIATIVES:
- Meet specific learning outcomes as set out in the National Treasury Fiance Intern Skills Development Programme
- The successful applicants will primarily be trained in the key areas of the Finance, Internal Audit and Risk departments to ensure that adequate skills are developed
- Exposure to the implementation of the MFMA, GRAP Standards, Policies and Procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must be from the uMlalazi municipal area and must be in possession of a completed three-year bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF Level 7), with majors in Accounting, Economics or Finance, Internal Audit and/or Risk Management.
- Reasonable written and verbal communication skills, and computer literacy are further requirements.
- The successful applicants will be expected to sign an Internship agreement, which is in addition to the employment contract. This will ensure commitment to the MFMIP which requires, amongst others, full participation in the training and workplace programs.
