The Midrand Power & Energy team works on renewable energy projects and grid-related electrical infrastructure, giving graduates exposure to real-world clean-energy technology and systems engineering within a multidisciplinary environment.
What the role involves
This is an early-career technical engineering support position focused on renewable energy and grid-related work. You will contribute engineering inputs to projects—supporting technical reviews, calculations, drawings, design documentation and report writing—while learning from senior engineers and project managers. The role places emphasis on producing clear, client-facing technical documentation and accurate engineering deliverables rather than tender writing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support electrical engineering inputs for renewable energy projects, including tasks related to solar PV, wind and battery energy storage systems.
- Assist with grid connection and electrical infrastructure work, including power systems and distribution/transmission support.
- Carry out technical reviews, calculations, and develop or update drawings and design documentation.
- Prepare technical reports, design notes and review comments suitable for clients and internal project teams.
- Communicate engineering outputs clearly with senior engineers, project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Follow WSP’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) policies, contribute to risk identification and support processes aimed at achieving Zero Harm.
- Develop technical capability through mentorship, on-the-job exposure and continuous professional development activities.
