Position Purpose
The Trainee Train Assistant supports the Train Driver in operating locomotives safely and efficiently across different rail systems.

The goal is to ensure cargo reaches its destination safely, on time, and without damage while maintaining strict safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The role involves hands-on operational responsibilities from the first day of training.
Shift Preparation and Duty Allocation
- Sign on duty and receive shift responsibilities
- Determine locomotive preparation requirements
- Obtain and check equipment
- Prepare and clean working areas
- Assist with locomotive start-up and brake tests
- Dispatch locomotive
Locomotive Preparation
- Identify locomotive assigned
- Place equipment on board
