About the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP)
The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is a statutory body established under the Architectural Profession Act, No. 44 of 2000. Among its core responsibilities is the regulation, training, and development of professionals within the architectural sector.
In terms of Section 15(5) of the Act, SACAP is mandated to create and manage an education fund dedicated to supporting the education and continuous professional development of registered persons and students within the architectural profession.
Through this bursary programme, SACAP aims to:
- Increase access to architectural education
- Support transformation in the profession
- Empower talented students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
- Promote excellence across architectural learning sites
Who Can Apply for the SACAP Student Bursary 2026?
SACAP invites applications from students who meet the following criteria:
Eligible Applicants
- Only 2nd-year up to Honours architecture students
- Must be enrolled at an accredited Architectural Learning Site in South Africa
- South African citizens with a valid ID
Income Eligibility
- Household income ≤ R350 000 per year
- Persons with disabilities: Household income ≤ R600 000 per year
- Priority will be given to designated groups
SACAP Bursary Requirements
Applicants must submit all of the following documents:
- Motivational Letter
- A one-page letter explaining why you need financial assistance.
- Certified Matric Certificate
- Must be valid and not older than 6 months.
- Certified Latest Academic Results
- Include full academic record for all completed modules.
- Certified Copy of SA Identity Document
- Proof of Income
- 3 months’ payslips for the student/parent/guardian
- OR an affidavit if the parent/guardian is unemployed
- Bank Statements
- 3 months’ bank statements of the student/parent/guardian
