About the organisation

This opportunity is run by Red Bull South Africa (PTY) LTD as part of Red Bull’s Student Marketeer programme. The programme recruits student brand and product ambassadors to drive brand image, increase product understanding and encourage trial among university students. Student Marketeers represent Red Bull at campus events, through sampling and social activity, and by supporting sales and visibility in local outlets.

What the role involves

As a Student Marketeer you are a brand and product ambassador. Your main aim is to introduce new consumers to Red Bull, create memorable experiences on campus and at events, and support local sales activity. You will plan and deliver campus activations, sample product to students, build relationships with local stakeholders, and report on activity through Red Bull’s online platform.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Represent Red Bull in a premium, on-brand way through everyday interactions and event presence.
  • Invite product trial and build awareness among students via sampling at the right place and time; answer consumer questions.
  • Design and execute a bespoke campus plan that engages students and brings the brand to life at your university.
  • Build and maintain relationships with influential local individuals and campus groups.
  • Create authentic social media content to drive brand engagement from your own channels.
  • Work at Red Bull and supported events to deliver memorable consumer experiences.
  • Collaborate with local sales account managers to ensure product availability, visibility and correct store standards.
  • Open new distribution points on and around campus in collaboration with the sales team.
  • Plan, report and record activities accurately and on time via Red Bull’s dedicated online platform.
  • Share local insights, trends and opportunities to help develop media and on-the-ground activity.

Requirements explained

  • Excellent communication skills: you must be comfortable speaking to many different people and answering consumer questions.
  • Charismatic, energetic and outgoing: the role relies on personal presence and positivity when engaging students and customers.
  • Immersed in student life: clear knowledge of your university, the city and regional hotspots is essential.
  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset: you will be expected to bring ideas, take initiative and act responsibly.
  • Ability to manage part-time work and studies: the role is flexible but requires availability for some evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to learn marketing, negotiation and sales skills and to apply them practically on campus and at events.
  • Strong campus network: being connected with influential groups and individuals on campus will help your reach.
  • Event/project management skills and ability to work behind the scenes on logistics and execution.
  • Team player: regular collaboration and communication with the team is part of the job.
  • Driver’s licence preferred.

Who should consider applying

This role suits university students who are actively involved in campus life, enjoy events and face-to-face engagement, and who want practical marketing and sales experience outside a traditional 9-to-5. If you are energetic, sociable, creative and can balance studies with flexible hours (including evenings and weekends), you should consider applying. A willingness to travel and to represent a well-known consumer brand is essential.

Application checklist

Prepare the following before you apply:

  • An up-to-date CV emphasising campus activities, event experience and any sales or marketing work.
  • A short cover letter or application statement that explains how you would bring Red Bull to life on your campus and examples of ideas or events you might run.
  • Evidence of communication and event/project management experience (brief descriptions or examples are fine).
  • Links to your active social media handles where you create authentic content (to show how you might promote Red Bull).
  • Details of your availability, especially evenings and weekends, and your ability to balance studies and part-time work.
  • Driver’s licence details if you have one (not mandatory but preferred).

Edupstairs advice: make your application stand out

  • Lead with campus impact: recruiters want to know how you will reach students. Describe a specific campus activation or sampling plan and the likely locations, partners and timings you would use.
  • Show results, not just tasks: if you ran events or promotions before, say how many students you reached, how you measured success, or how you improved turnout or engagement.
  • Include social content samples: share examples of posts, short videos or stories that reflect authentic student-life content and your on-brand voice.
  • Emphasise organisation and reporting: explain how you plan, execute and report activities. Mention any experience using online platforms or simple reporting tools.
  • Be clear about availability: state when you can work evenings and weekends and how you will manage studies alongside the role.
  • Build credibility with local networks: name campus clubs, societies or student groups you’re connected to and how those relationships can boost reach.
  • Keep your CV concise and tailored: highlight relevant event, sales or marketing experience and remove unrelated roles that do not add value for this position.
