Gert Sibande TVET College, a leading Technical and Vocational Education and Training institution in Mpumalanga, has partnered with the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) to launch an exciting new Graduate Internship Programme. This programme targets graduates of National Certificate Vocational (NCV) qualifications in Business and Services Studies, providing them with practical work exposure that bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world application.
Empowering NCV Graduates Through Practical Experience
The NCV Business and Services Studies Graduate Internship Programme is designed to empower unemployed youth, particularly those who have obtained their NCV Level 4 qualifications at Gert Sibande TVET College. By offering workplace-based training, the programme ensures that these graduates gain valuable skills, confidence, and industry insights that make them more employable.
Interns will be placed in various retail and service industry workplaces, where they will participate in daily operations, customer service, stock management, merchandising, and other business administration functions. This hands-on experience is critical for preparing graduates for sustainable employment or even entrepreneurial ventures in the future.
Strategic Partnership for Skills Development
The partnership between Gert Sibande TVET College and W&RSETA reflects a shared commitment to skills development, youth employment, and transformation within the wholesale and retail sector. W&RSETA, as a sector-focused SETA, plays a critical role in funding and supporting such programmes to align skills development with industry needs.
The internship programme supports the national drive to tackle unemployment, especially among the youth who often struggle to access workplace experience after completing their studies. Through this initiative, learners can develop their skills further while contributing to the productivity of host companies in the retail and services industries.
