Starting your career doesn’t always require a university degree. Sometimes, all you need is the right opportunity, a willingness to learn, and a structured programme that gives you both theory and hands-on experience. That’s exactly what the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure is offering through its 2026 Multi-Learnership Programme and Electrical Engineering Learnership.

These learnerships are part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) — a national initiative aimed at creating skills, job opportunities, and long-term employability for South African youth. If you’ve been struggling to break into the job market, this initiative could be your breakthrough.

What makes these learnerships special is that they do not just hand you classroom theory — they place you in real construction and electrical environments so you learn practical skills that employers truly value. Whether you’re passionate about building, electrical work, carpentry, painting or community housing development, this is your chance to grow into a fully employable artisan.

Let’s break down everything you need to know.

About the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure

The Department is responsible for major infrastructure development in the province — schools, hospitals, houses, bridges, road networks, community facilities and more. They partner with accredited training authorities like CETA and development organisations such as In-Touch Community Developers and Edu House SA to create training opportunities for unemployed youth.

The Department has a long history of promoting skills development, especially in construction-related fields, to boost employability and reduce youth unemployment in Limpopo. These learnerships are aligned with national artisan development strategies and help young people qualify for further workplace opportunities such as apprenticeships, trade tests and permanent jobs.
